MLK Social Post

Design Objective

The team needed a social post for Martin Luther King Jr. Day that featured a realistic, full-color image of Martin Luther King Jr. The original copy provided was “Blink Celebrates MLK Day.”

Challenges & Process

Finding a high-quality, fair-use image of Martin Luther King Jr. that wasn't overused was challenging. I eventually found one but had to enhance and stylize it in Illustrator to improve the resolution.

Instead of using the original “Blink Celebrates MLK Day” copy, I suggested an inspirational quote. The team approved, and I chose a powerful quote by Dr. King, positioning it on the left side of the canvas with ragged right-justified text to fill the negative space.

To create a striking, balanced effect, I added a yellow silhouette on one side of Dr. King's image and a white silhouette on the opposite side. This made the image pop against the black background and complemented the white logo, resulting in a harmonious and impactful visual.

Outcome

The post resonated with the audience, inspiring widespread engagement and promoting awareness of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, effectively honoring Dr. King's enduring legacy.
